Cal Zimmerman, a scientist, is questioned about an experiment he carried out two years ago. Back then, Abel, a man who is heavily invested in his career at the service of a scientific research laboratory, suddenly loses his wife and their only daughter. He is going through a dark period of grieving and loneliness when his world is suddenly turned upside down by the arrival of a child who is the looks very much like his daughter.
